Exhibition « Picasso et l’orfèvrerie »
At first, François Hugo transposed ceramic dishes into gold and silver. Then, specific creations were made, such as the « compotiers ».
In addition to the correspondences between the original ceramic prints and the silver dishes, Pablo Picasso’s approach to silverware is similar to that of ceramics in the way he apprehended the specificities of the material and exploited its potentialities.
The exhibition, organised with the assistance of the Hugo workshops, presents the complete series of gold and silver dishes, compared with Picasso’s ceramics, the compote dishes and the jewellery. The presentation of archive documents and photographs completes the exhibition.
