Mark Dion exhibition, the Tropical Collectors

“Ben” exhibition
Provocative and innovative, Ben is one of the major artists of the last sixty years. Affiliated with the Fluxus movement, which asserted the abolition of the elitist frontier between art and life and between the different artistic fields, Ben is particularly known for his performances and his calligraphic writing-aphorses.
In line with its policy in favour of contemporary creation, affirmed through the international Biennials or the operations carried out with designers, the Magnelli Museum of Ceramics wanted to invite Ben for an exhibition combining ceramics and installation for the summer of 2022. The backbone of the exhibition is to show that ceramics is a material open to creation.
The exhibition will take place in the Eden room, a former cinema that has been transformed into a temporary exhibition space for the museum since 2004. Beyond the material, the artist wanted to reappropriate this space to develop his creations. This exhibition will also be the occasion of a collaboration with the artist Monique Thibaudin who lives and works in Vallauris.
